The county Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking applicants for a stewardship grant program to maintain and preserve key lands around the island.
The program will provide grants-in-aid to nonprofit organizations for public safety maintenance and stewardship of lands acquired by the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Fund.
Applicants will be required to submit a detailed business plan for the project. Awardees will be required to submit a written report one year after receiving the funds, detailing how the money is spent.
The program concerns 26 parcels around the island, nine of which are located in North Kohala. There are also six parcels in Ka‘u, five in South Kona, three in North Kona, two in Puna and one in Hamakua.
